You Have Carried the Weigh Long Enough

Even though some of us are in great shape physically, many of us are weighed down by the stresses of life. Some deal with anxiety and depression, while others struggle with problems we've brought on ourselves, leaving us feeling overwhelmed.

Sometimes I find myself carrying burdens I don’t need to, and other times life just hits harder than expected. We often take on other people’s problems, and before we know it, we’re weighed down by things that aren’t even ours to carry. As we head into the last part of the year, let’s focus on letting go of that weight and making ourselves a priority!

If you’re like me, you care deeply about the people you love. When they struggle, you might try to take on their problems or feel the need to fix things for them. I’ve had to remind myself this year to focus only on what I can control and to let go of the rest, trusting that God will handle it.

Life throws tough situations at us, and while we can’t always change what happens, we often dwell in disappointment, anger, and regret over things we can’t control. Many of us live day by day based on our feelings instead of relying on God’s promises.

I’m speaking from experience—I’ve had times where I relied on my own strength and tried to do things my way, only to have it backfire. Many of us hold on to grudges, worry about the same things repeatedly, cling to bad habits and toxic relationships, or stress about our kids and jobs. We carry all this with us daily without seeking change.

Shit happens…Don’t let life’s burdens weigh you down. We all go through tough times, but now is the time to let go and free yourself from the pain and pressure on your shoulders.

Someone once said, “Going through the same painful process again is OK—but ten times is enough!” If you want different results, you have to change how you approach things.

We all have reasons to quit or give up, but what does that say to God, who is our burden bearer, our way maker, the one who lifts our heads? There’s nothing too hard for Him.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
