Give Thanks in All Circumstances
Have you ever felt ungrateful, not because you wanted to be, but because life was just tough? Maybe you felt like giving up, like nothing you worked for mattered, or even that God forgot about your dreams and future.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." But I get it, sometimes it’s hard to be thankful when life is hard. We feel worn out, disappointed, or even let down by God. Yet, gratitude can truly change things. When we choose to wake up with thanks, no matter what, it’s not just about changing our situation. God uses it to change our hearts and minds, giving us strength, joy, and assurance that everything will work out according to His will.
Take a moment to reflect on the gifts God has given us. Even when we face challenges or uncertainty, God is still with us. It can be hard to see this when we’re focused on our struggles, but looking back on our lives can remind us of how far we’ve come. Often, when we feel life is unfair or missing good things, we shut down and forget what we’ve already overcome.
Real change starts with learning to endure and being thankful, even in tough times. We often think we’re blessed only when life is going well, when we’re successful, healthy, and secure. But true transformation happens when we understand that God doesn’t measure our blessings by what we have; He measures them by our hearts.
For November, let’s keep these three words in mind:
- Gratitude
- Reflection
- Transformation
